At Yatima Hope CBO, our mission has always been to provide a safe haven and a path to a brighter future for the most vulnerable members of our community. This week, our mission received a wonderful boost as we hosted a team from National Bank, who visited our center in Nyalenda to share a day of joy, support, and encouragement with our children.
A Day of Sharing and Care
The visit was more than just a formal meeting; it was a hands-on demonstration of community spirit and corporate social responsibility. The National Bank team arrived with much-needed supplies, including nutritious meals and a generous donation of clothes. These clothes, thoughtfully selected and in excellent condition, were distributed to our Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and those currently in our street-rehabilitated children’s project.
Beyond Material Support: Psychosocial Well-being
While the meals and clothing are vital for the daily needs of our children, the true highlight of the visit was the psychosocial support offered by the National Bank staff. For children who have faced the hardships of life on the streets or the loss of family support, knowing that a major institution cares about their well-being is incredibly motivating.
The team spent time interacting with the children, offering words of encouragement and reminding them that their current circumstances do not define their future potential. This kind of emotional and social support is a cornerstone of our rehabilitation process, helping our children build the self-esteem and resilience they need to succeed.
Building a Stronger Community Together
Gestures like these remind us that we are not alone in our efforts to transform lives in the Kisumu slums. Partnerships with institutions like National Bank play a crucial role in enhancing our capacity to serve and protect the children of Nyalenda.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to National Bank for their kindness and for choosing to invest in the lives of our children. Your support has not only put smiles on their faces but has also strengthened their resolve to pursue their dreams.
