Christmas is a season of love, giving, and family. Yet, for many families in our community, the simple joy of a celebratory meal on this special day can be out of reach. This year, on the 25th of December, the true spirit of Christmas shone brightly at Yatima Hope CBO, thanks to the incredible generosity of the “Friends of Yatima Hope CBO.”
Knowing that many of our children’s households would not have a special meal to mark the occasion, this wonderful group came together to ensure no child was left out. They sourced, delivered, and prepared a bountiful feast, turning what could have been an ordinary day into an unforgettable celebration for everyone at the organization. The day was filled with laughter, teamwork, and the warmth of a community coming together.
Here are some of the heartwarming moments from our Christmas celebration:
A Cycle of Hope: Dishon Gives Back

It was incredibly inspiring to see Dishon, a former street boy currently in our rehabilitation program, taking an active role in the day’s festivities. He stepped up to assist with both food preparation and service, a powerful testament to his journey of transformation and his desire to give back to the place that has supported him.
Leading with Love: Martha the Matron

As always, our dedicated matron, Martha, was at the heart of the operation. She took the lead, coordinating the kitchen and ensuring that every detail of the meal preparation was handled with care and efficiency, so the children could have the best experience possible.
Hands-On Kindness: Our Donors Serve with a Smile

We were deeply touched by the hands-on involvement of our donors, Belinda and Linda. They didn’t just provide the resources for the meal; they were right there in the serving line, dishing out food with warm smiles to each and every child. Their personal connection made the meal even more special.
Gratitude in Action: Teenagers and Calvo Join Forces
The spirit of gratitude was palpable as Yatima teenagers joined forces with Calvo, a reformed former street boy who was raised by Yatima Hope. Together, they took on the task of making countless chapatis. For Calvo, this was a meaningful way to say “thank you” for the support he received, giving back his service to the organization that helped shape his life.
Leaving No One Behind: Collins’s Commitment

In the bustle of a large celebration, it’s important that every single child is cared for. Collins took on this crucial responsibility, making sure that no one was left behind and that every child received their share of the delicious food. His diligence ensured that the joy of the day was shared equally by all.
This Christmas celebration was a beautiful reminder of the power of community. We are immensely grateful to the Friends of Yatima Hope CBO, our donors Belinda and Linda, our staff, and our amazing young people like Dishon and Calvo. Together, you made this Christmas a day of true hope and happiness for our children.
