On October 17, 2024, six talented artists – Regina Aichwalder, Elisabeth Hassek-Eder, Gerda Hofmaier-Grimschitz, Christa Karl, Elisabeth Miksch-Aichenegg, and Gaby Stipsitz – held an exhibition in Vienna’s 15th district with one goal: to support vulnerable children in Kisumu, Kenya. Their collective effort raised €2,560, which was donated to Yatima Hope C.B.O.
This generous contribution has brought us closer to fulfilling a long-held dream: establishing a safe space for girls in the Nyalenda slum. For years, Yatima Hope has provided care and shelter for boys, but the need to extend this support to girls has been urgent.
Progress So Far:
The first €1,560 has been invested in:
• Renting premises for the girls’ safe space,
• Renovation work to create a secure and welcoming environment,
• Installing a permanent water connection,
• Repairing and procuring beds for the girls and caregivers.
The remaining €1,000 will be used for essentials such as food, hygiene products, medical care, and ongoing operational costs.
A New Chapter for Girls in Nyalenda
This safe space will provide much-needed protection and support, offering young girls the chance to rebuild their lives, access education, and grow in a secure environment.
We are deeply grateful to the artists and the supportive audience, whose generosity has made this progress possible and look forward to keeping you updated on the completion of this vital project. Thank you for spreading Hope!
